How Side Fire Was Created

first one made by adding clay to the top of a regular bowl extending it upwards to shap it to the imagination.

The Beginning

It started with a simple idea. I shaped my first bowl from clay-no tools, just my imagination.

Bringing It To Life

Tagged a friend to help me to turn it into a 3D design

(I drove him nuts).
Finally, I could see it instead of just explaining it.

Trying New Tech

When 3D printing was a thing, I gave it a shot, but it was plastic (
what the heck!!), I can't use that with coals.

Taking Shape

Molded the tray for coals and airflow holes. That's when it hit me..this is not a regular bowl

The Expensive Lesson

Went to get a single bowl made. After visiting multiple metal shops unannounced , only one agreed to reset his machine and make it.
He charged more for watching him.

On The Road Again

Once again it goes to another far away land for production. Finally improvement, but more work to do

First Production

Sent the molded model to a far away land for production using ceramics. It looked strange but worked,  not the way I anticipated.

Testing The Idea

Combined the new metal piece with an old traditional clay bowl. It worked

The Turning Point

Switching to glass. Then everything improved, cleaner, smoother, better.
this was it with little more tweaking to get there

Getting Closer

Finally, almost there but not yet, just a little more work.
